Women Write Gov Ayade Over N50m COVID-19 Fund In C’River

A community-based non-governmental organization in Cross River State, Grassroot Women Action Congress (GWAC), has written a strong worded letter to Governor Ben Ayade demanding for information on the list of items and total cost items that were allocated for distribution to Olulumo ward towards for preventing the explosion and spread of the coronavirus in the Ward.
The women in a letter signed by its representatives said the body is requesting for the details on person or group of persons, agency and/or members of the distribution Committee.
GWAC revealed that, the request for details about the COVID-19 preventive kits distribution is sequel to the N50million contributions made by the Ikom Local Government Council to the indigenes towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The women wondered if the ambitious money released was in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, the Freedom of Information Act in particular and other extant laws in the country.
