By Emmanuel Udom
Archbishop Ochei Innocent, president, New Dimension Seminary, a global outreach based in Lagos-Nigeria, yesterday said that his organization is about to reactivate free reading culture among students from primary, secondary and tertiary levels within and outside Nigeria.
‘In a couple of hours, New Dimension Books Reading Club that has been offering free or subsidized hard copy books to students and other interested persons, will go online and therefore become global’.
This is part of our efforts in assisting governments at various levels across countries in ensuring that students are motivated to always read books with high moral or religious values, especially at this time where COVID-19 pandemic has compelled people to embrace online education and learning.
Speaking further, the author of over 700 books- online and hard copies, using various platforms like Amazon ,said with some of his books presently uploaded on his blog: www.shop.ndseminary.org beginning from next month, books sellers and buyers are expected to meet at the blog, register for free and submit their books, for the entire world to see.
According to him, students, within the age range of 9-21 years are also encouraged to submit their books after registering with the blog, free of charge, using their email addresses
Every month, from March to July 1, this year, students will be encouraged to submit 15 books, which will be read by others and the best 7 of the books, adjudged by the students themselves will attract prizes for the authors.
He however, advised that interested students should ensure that their books come with a maximum of 40 pages, even as he called on corporate organizations and government agencies to assist his organization in sponsoring the prizes that will be given to the best 7 student authors within and outside Nigeria, while submission should be email in pdf format to newochei@gmail.com,
So, we are planning to approach government and corporate bodies for sponsorships, as our vision is to boost reading culture among students, youths and indeed everybody across the globe.
