Chairman, Lagos state chapter of the Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Comrade Kenny Martins Bakare, has explained some of the reasons suspected hoodlums hijacked the peaceful nation protest that engulfed Nigerian in the last couple of weeks.
The explanation of Bakare is coming as our country is counting its losses following the protests that rattled the police, the federal government and other agencies, groups and individuals within and outside the country.
Bakare told www.csomedia.com.ng point-blank that the protest started on a sound, noble footing, but lacked a clear leader with the blue-print and direction, to sustain the successes recorded.
According to him, hoodlums, who may have been sponsored by unknown politicians, who are not trained activists, infiltrated the crown and began to loot, kill, destroy, and main with reckless abandon.
His words: “Based on this explanation, I was sure deep down that Nigeria was sitting on a key powder, which eventually exploded, even as I have my doubt on the ability of the investigation panel into the Lekki killings in Lagos to unmask those who killed some of the protesters”.
The CLO leader however advised President Muhammed Buhari to ensure that the killings and injustice meted out to the protesters are addressed for the sake of peace, unity, and progress of our country, while he holds forth as our leaders.
