Terrorist Attack in Borno: the dreaded Boko Haram slaughter 43 farm workers

Boko Haram terrorists have slaughtered 43 farm workers near Maiduguri, Borno, Northeast Nigeria.
The assailants allegedly tied up the farm workers and cut their throats in the village of Koshobe.
Anti-jihadist militia chief Babakura Kolo told AFP on Saturday that the group had recovered 43 bodies, all slaughtered, with six more wounded.

“It is undoubtedly the handiwork of the Boko Haram farmers who work in the area and often attack farmers,” he said.

Reuters also reported the attack, citing a village leader, a local fighter with the Zamarmari group, and a police source, bringing the death toll to at least 40 people.

A search has been launched for the attackers by the authorities, it added.

Another militiaman, Ibrahim Liman, who gave the same toll, said the victims were workers from Sokoto State in northwest Nigeria, about 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) away, who had travelled to the northeast to find jobs.

In the rice fields there were 60 farmers who were hired to harvest paddy. Forty-three of them were killed, six of them wounded,’ Liman told AFP.
There were eight others missing, probably abducted by the jihadists, he said.
The bodies were taken to the village of Zabarmari, two kilometers away, where they would be kept in preparation of Sunday’s burial, said resident Mala Bunu, who was involved in the search and rescue activity.
