Rivalry between Apc’s Abiru, Pdp’s Gbadamosi for Senatorial seat in Lagos Bye-Election
Voters across Lagos-East Senate District gathered to vote on Saturday, as the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressive Congress, APC, nominee, Babatunde Gbadamosi and Tokunbo Abiru respectively renewed rivalry in a bye-election.
Following the death of the former senator representing the senatorial district, Bayo Osinowo, who was snatched away by the cruel hand of Coronavirus, the duo will compete for the vacant senate seat.
Their political agenda was carried out by both Abiru and Gbadamosi. Abiru vowed people-oriented representation under a senator’s legislative mandate in his campaign platform.
1,343,448 district residents of the Independent National Electoral Commission are entitled to vote in the election. However, fewer than 50 per cent of the people on the register may turn up to vote based on previous experience.
Lagos East consists of five Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 11 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Updates on the election as it happens from 1,978 polling units and 71 registration centres in the state coming soon.
