Professor Akintade’s appointment came, following his achievements in the healthcare field, with enviable academic history, and relevant contributions to the development of the Health Sector in USA.
The award-winning Professor of Nursing is an illustrious son of Ondo town, Ondo State who had his secondary school education at the Federal Government College, Idoani and graduated in 1994. He continued his academic pursuit in the USA where he obtained several degrees and certifications.
He earned his bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. In addition, he holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and an MBA in International Healthcare Business from the University of Maryland University College, USA. The veteran healthcare practitioner is also a Certified Telehealth Facilitator from the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia PA. He is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for the Master’s Specialties at the University of Maryland School of Nursing.
Professor Akintade’s areas of expertise include High Fidelity Simulation, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Leadership and Building Collaborative Partnerships.
On the home front, the Ondo indigene is the Founder of Health for Nigeria; a not for profit organization which focuses on increasing healthcare leadership and management capacity of healthcare professionals in Nigeria. The organization championed the Nurse A School project which focuses on setting up clinics and sickbays and placing registered nurses in public schools across Nigeria to improve the health and wellness of children. He was the Director of Advancement and Documentation, University of Medical Sciences in Ondo State.
With 19 years of clinical experience, Dr. Akintade is a well-rounded clinician with leadership experience in a variety of settings including universities and tertiary care hospitals with strong management and business skills grounded in evidence-based practice, clinical outcomes and a service-oriented philosophy.
