The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has begun training for language teachers and facilitators of non-formal education centers across the state.
This, the government revealed that it is in partial compliance with the execution of the Best Delivery of Educational Services for All (BESDA) in the State.
The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, stated that the program was facilitated in conjunction with the World Bank and the Universal Basic Education Commission to ensure that the facilitators are well trained. for the task ahead.
He said this at Lagelu Secondary School, Ibadan, during the banner of the training that is taking place in different centers with participants from twenty-one local government areas selected for the BESDA program in Oyo state.
Adeniran explained that the training was also intended to prepare facilitators for the necessary lessons, the observation checklist, stimulate students’ interest in the topics, cultivate thinking skills and mastery of the content and lesson plans. .
According to Adeniran, the training will also bring sanity to the learning process by improving teaching methods and eradicating children who do not attend school from the streets in Oyo state.
Dr. Adeniran further revealed that the program is aimed at school-age children, who do not have access to schools or drop out of public schools.
He said the program also targets children in Islamic schools, adding that the training is intended to transform, literate and empower them with basic skills in its centers.
He said: “This exercise is crucial for the basic education sector of Oyo state and is being carried out in all 21 local government areas of the state.”
“We hope that this will certainly allow our non-formal facilitators to gain insight into the new teaching methods that apply to BESDA. This will also take the educational system to greater heights in our beloved State, ”he said.
He praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing the education sector, adding that his immense support has given the Board an advantage in the fight against unschooled children littering the streets.
