The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, has commended private school owners for meeting the education need in the country.
Osinbajo made the commendation on Friday in Abuja while addressing the teachers and scholars of the Aretean School.
She said that the school and many others were meeting the need for education in the society which was laudable.
“I’m happy to be here for many reasons, cause the Aretean has shown that education goes beyond English, Maths and Science.
“Education is more than what you know, education is how to live and so i trust and believe that in this place not only the students, but also the teachers and staff will be taught on true education.
“Which is beyond the four corners of the classroom but a way of life that unlocks one’s potentials and so i commend the management for meeting the need for education here,” she said.
She said that there was nothing more important and precious as children and the need to give them quality education most be prioritized.
Osinbajo lauded the school for inviting both national and world leaders to inspire the scholars that they could grow up to be fulfilled in life if they didn’t allow people to talk them down.
According to her, being a decent, dependable person in society is more important than simply having a degree, a master’s degree or a doctorate.
She urged the school to teach the scholar honor, honesty, respect, loyalty, integrity, handwork, orderliness, goodness, kindness, courtesy and all those things that underguard a good society.
Osinbajo said that an educated person must be kind in act, must be caring and dependable to prove that him or her had acquired true education.
She also encouraged the scholars to dream big and work towards achieving every dream as they all had the potential to become great leaders.
“Tell yourself you will make it even beyond your wildest imagination.
“I believe in Aretean today sitting in ankle socks with ribbons on her hair is one of the governors of tomorrow.
“Sitting here with his feet barely even touching the ground is one of the greatest scientists in the face of the earth.
“I believe that sitting there on that chair in his uniform or her uniform are those who would make a difference not only in their community or in the nation but in the world at large.
“So tell yourself that you are a shinning star and the world will feel your impact,” she said.
Mrs Uloma Rochas-Nwosu, President Aretean School, said that the school was focused on its vision to be the first Ivy League school in Nigeria producing the next generation of leaders.
Rochas-Nwosu said that the need for education requires no emphasis as education itself was life and that the school was striving to give life to young scholars.
According to her, beyond the school esthetic, it has a culture of excellence, loyalty, diligence, character, selfless service, humility, giving, resilence and respect for others.
“We believe these are the qualities and some of the ingredients that you can find in a great leader and the Aretean has offered it and is offering it to its scholars.
“All we do here at the Aretean is to inspire this young scholars by exposing them to every sphere of life just so that they are able to make better informed decisions in becoming the best leaders that they could possibly be.
“And the presence of the Vice-Presidents wife has inspired us and has marked the beginning of her silent mentorship role in the lives of the scholars, ” she said.
She said that the school hoped to grow in numbers beyond its early years and primary section to secondary section and to also have affliate Ivy league university in order to have a continum that was beyond academics.
