OONI OF IFE ENDORSES SOUTHWEST YOUTH SUMMIT, PROMISES MAXIMUM SUPPORT
Ahead of the inaugural Southwest Youth Summit (SYS) which is set to hold in December, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) has declared his unwavering support for the event which will host leaders and youths of the region at various levels.
The Ooni, while playing host to the representatives of the Southwest Youth Summit headed by the Deputy Speaker of Southwest Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Olumide Fasubaa, said that the Summit is crucial to the progress and unity of the region adding that he is pleased that youths are now waking up to their civic responsibility.
The Ojaja II, while counselling the visitors, also made a commitment to engage stakeholders of the region in various sectors to attend the event, saying that it is a very big opportunity to use the platform to address the Yoruba people on the need to chart progressive agenda for socio-economic development.
In his speech, Rt. Hon. Olumide Fasubaa acknowledged the importance of the Courtesy Visit and thanked His Imperial Majesty for availing his entourage the audience to speak about the Summit. He noted that Kabiyesi remains the paramount ruler of the Yoruba race and a true custodian of values, customs and traditions. Hence the need for the visit.
“The emergence of the Southwest Youth Summit will serve as a turning point for young people to accomplish the following: Promoting peace in the Southwest region of Nigeria, equipping youths with the knowledge to build a sustainable society, mentoring young minds to achieving greatness, among others. On this note, we humbly seek the support of Your Imperial Majesty in the fulfilment of this mandate,” he added.
Present at the event is the Chief Press Secretary to the King, Otunba Moses Olafare and some other stakeholders of the Kingdom.
