“No More Imposition of Candidates on the People” – Cross River PDP Chairman

The newly elected Chairman of the People’s Democratic party (PDP),Cross River State chapter, Vena Ikem who was the former National Publicity Secretary on Wednesday said his administration will be guided on the principle of free, fair and credible elections in the State.

He said, “We will do everything within our power to stop the imposing of candidates on the people to further democratized the party we will also ensure that no candidate is imposed on the Party, we will strive to provide a level playing field for everyone”

The former national publicity Secretary of PDP said this at the PDP secretariate after taking oath of office as State party Chairman after the last concluded state congress that emerged him as the state chairman of the party.

Ikem who thanked the Caretaker Committee Chairman and former deputy Governor Effiok Cobhom for stearing the party to an enviable height.

According to Vena, expectations are high on the Exco and promised that he will do his best  not to disappoint the party.

Earlier the former governor Donald Duke advised the State executive Committee of PDP to think outside the box to grow the party.

Duke said “We have not been in this dilemma before, we are engaging the governors of South South ,we are hoping that the will carry us along”

He changed the new executive of the party to carry everybody along saying in the next few weeks when the by-election ion will be conducted that will be their first test

He advised that the Party should not take it for granted that Cross River State is a PDP State because according to him executive Powers matters.
