Pastor Tunde Bakare, founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, who was once a candidate along side President Muhammadu Buhari and also strongly protested against Goodluck Jonathan, told the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari not to kill Nigerians. Bakare spoke on TV stations on The Stage, a special
program to celebrate the anniversary of Nigeria ‘s Independence Day. He said rather than kill Nigerians, the government should murder corruption.
In his words : “ Don’t fight Nigerians, fight corruption because
we knew that the subsidy being paid is going into private pockets.
“I fought against the injustice of the poor,” added Bakare, claiming that the
Federal Government’s subsidies were not used to promote the cause of the poor.
Bakare also frowned at demands for the disintegration of Nigerians, but voted for a united Nigeria.
Also speaking, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega urged Buhari’s 60th Independence speech to move beyond talk to execution.
What is obvious is that on a day like this the speech holds quite a lot of the right things to be said. But for me, not what is said is the important thing, but how it is followed up , ” Professor Jega noted.
