LSHA Passes N1.558 Trillion 2022 Budget

Lagos State House of Assembly has on Tuesday passed 2022 budget tagged budget of consolidation; the budget was presented by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the House of Assembly for Consideration.

The budget size of N1.558 Trillion was presented by the Chairman House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu.

He submitted that 66% is capital expenditure while 34% is recurrent. Hon. Yishawu assured Lagosians that the Budget will perform better. The Budget was deliberated by joint Committees on appropriation, Economic Planning and budget headed by Hon.

Gbolahan Yishawu and Hon. Rotimi Olowo before it was debated by the law makers during plenary on Tuesday.

Hon. Yishawu stated that Lagos State has taken loan which increased the budget size. Yishawu lamented that the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Wharf Landing did not appear to defend their budget.

In a related event, the House passed a bill for a law to provide for the establishment, Constitution, function and administration of Lagos State University of Education.

Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the Majority Leader, explained that Adeniran Ogunsanya and Michael Otedola Colleges of Education would now have University Status which can award degree. Agunbiade added that NCE Certificate is now becoming irrelevant. He said the new status of Colleges of Education would now encourage students to enroll in the schools for Degree courses.

At the end of the deliberation, the speaker, Rt Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Obasa directed the Clerk Barrister Olalekan Onafeko to pass copy to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his assent.
