Lagos State House of Assembly has on Tuesday passed the 2022 budget tagged consolidated budget to the house Committee on Budget and Economic Planning.
Speaking on the budget, Hon. Rotimi Olowo remarked that it is a budget of hope and consolidation but he, however, expressed feeling on the efficiency of revenue collectors. Olowo advised that development should be addressed in the bill. He said “we need to pursue social interaction and build vocational centers in all Local Government Areas.
Hon David Setonji in his remark, observed that the bill is good, capital expenditure takes 60% of the budget which are for roads, health, housing and transportation.
Hon Gbolahan Yishawu in his own submission said that there is much on the need to improve transportation, health care and management of Covid 19 pandemic. Hon Yinshawu added that borrowing is not bad if it is sensibly used. He said “we can borrow as well as improve the revenue generation to sustain the economy”.
In the same vein, Hon Fatai Mojeed said that the budget shows that the Lagos State is a good manager of resources. He lamented that the Internal Generated Revenue over floated personnel cost. But he submitted that government responded positively to the yearning and need of the citizens.
Also, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade submitted that capital is more than the recurrent expenditure. This Agunbiade remarked showed that government cares for the welfare of the citizens.
After the deliberation, the speaker, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, committed the budget to the committee on budget and economic planning.
