The Lagos State House of Assembly has committed to the committee of finance a bill for a law to establish lottery and gaming Authority to consolidate gaming activities and other connected activities in Lagos.
This step was taken after the 2nd reading of the bill during the plenary in Lagos House of Assembly.
Expatiating on the bill, Hon Rotimi Olowo said “there is online gaming and government is not gaining from it” He suggested that they should include online gaming in the bill. Hon Olowo reminded, “We need to include all agencies to activate our revenue”
He added that the bill should include security to address security challenges. He suggested that the bill should protect children below 18 years old, adding that there is no subvention for the Authority.
Also contributing, Hon Desmond Elliot, who was chairman Tourism committee, recommended that the bill should consider relation between the Federal Lottery and Lagos State Lottery. Saying House should control addiction to gaming.
Nevertheless, Hon. Kasumu revealed that the bill should address sport lottery aspect, saying that the bill is apt.
The speaker of the House Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa committed the bill to the committee of finance.
