IPU Appoints Officers, Vows to Unite Ndigbos Worldwide

Igbo Progressive Union, IPU, at the weekend in Lagos, vowed to unite Ndigos worldwide for peace, prosperity and progress.
President-General of IPU, Chief Bora Nwafor, dropped this hint during the swearing ceremony of the officers appointed at the national, state and local government levels for various positions in the union.
The event was held at Majestic Hotel in Okota, Lagos, where Nwafor disclosed that individual members of the union are free to join any police party, but IPU is a socio-cultural group, not a political pressure group.
He further disclosed that the union has initiated group insurance policy with American Insurance Company Plc, where each member is expected to pay N3000 every year as premium.
Where any eventuality like death occurs, the next-of-kin of the member, through the union could be paid N500, 000 as claim, he said.
Some of the officers appointed, decorated and issued with certificates at the event were: Women Leader, Lolo Maureen Okorie, Chief Dr Ken Mordi, Patron, Prince Ken Onyeagba, Chief of Staff, Daniel Agumadu, financial secretary, Igbo Jonathan, Publicity Secretary, and Chief Dr Vivian Obi, Deputy National Women Leader.
Elder George Okoye was appointed, decorated and issued with his certificate as General Secretary, Lagos State Branch of IPU.
Speaking with our correspondent after the event, Okoye expressed his gratitude to the union for the appointment and promise to work even harder to ensure that all Ndigbos in Lagos and beyond become members of the union.
