Insecurity: Why Army, Navy, Airforce Chiefs Should Go, Police, DSS Chiefs Should Stay- Ex-DSS Boss
By Stephen Ogundijo
Former Assistant Director, Department of State Security, DSS(), Dennis Amachtree, this morning, explained the reasons the presently Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigeria Airforce should bow out, while those of the Department of State Security Service, DSS and the Nigeria Police Force, should take on.
Speaking with our correspondent in Lagos, Amachtree noted that though the service chiefs who should bow out have done their best, their key performance indicators are waning.
His words: “If the federal government allows new commanders to be brought in, fresh ideas that could tackle insecurity in Nigeria headlong will be brought into play, provided the new commanders are equipped, empowered and motivated with military armaments”.
On why the DSS and police chiefs should stay, Amachtree, who is the chairman/CEO of Zoomlens Security Solutions, Lagos, said these chiefs, through new are doing a good job, despite the security challenges in the country.
He suggested that all what the Muhammed Buhari-led federal government could do at this point in time is to modernize the tools of the DSS and restructure the police to meet the challenges of modern day Nigeria.
