Ghana’s capital region makes it compulsory to wear masks

The Regional Security Council in Ghana’s capital has made it mandatory for all people to wear face masks in public.

A statement released Thursday by the Council said the initiative is to increase the impact of other steps put in place by the government to tackle the spread of COVID-19 in the world.
The release added that intensive public education will be carried out by the regional coordinating council as well as decongesting some markets within the city.
In addition to suspending some special market days for some of the market centres, the statement said that a “No face mask, No entry” sign will be installed at points of view in lorry stations, public buildings, markets, malls, banks and other public places

The government of Ghana has been supporting the local production of personal protective equipment, including face masks.
