Explosion rages in Lagos, Generator ban bill, COVID-19 Update, Emir Sanusi & more

In Nigeria a pipeline explosion this morning has left residents of Abule Ado Area of Lagos State, scampering for safety. The cause of the explosion which occurred at about 9:10am today is yet to be ascertained. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Lagos State Fire Service have said that the fire incident that occurred was not as a result of pipeline explosion as earlier circulated.
No official casualty has been announced, although residents of the area said five people have been killed.
Now, the coronavirus outbreak is no longer a threat for Africa, it is now a reality as more and more countries on the continent have cases.
Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and Guinea announced their first confirmed cases of coronavirus on Friday as the disease has now spread to at least 18 countries in Africa.
Other African countries that reported cases of the disease are Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Africa, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Rwanda and Ghana. Most of the countries’ totals are still in single figures. On Friday, the World Health Organization warned that Europe has now become the “epicentre” for the pandemic, called COVID-19, reporting more daily cases than China did at the height of its outbreak. The news comes as the head of a joint WHO-China mission of experts says that the world is not ready.
