in Osogbo, Oct. 10 Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state has appealed to the citizens of the state to practice restrictions in the process of protesting against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), saying that government is already reacting to their outcry.
Oyetola, in a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, on Saturday in Osogbo, urged the residents not to take laws into their hands.
The governor said that people should be aware that Osun was a peaceful state and that President Muhammadu Buhari had issued directives to the police inspector-general, Mohammed Adamu, to immediately wade into the SARS issue.
“We call for calm and encourage our people, by not taking laws into their hands, to continue preserving the peaceful profile of the state.
Let us not be tempted to target public property and services that have taken years of sacrifice and hardship to construct for government and taxpayers.
“Our citizens can count on the efforts of the state government to continue to do everything possible to protect citizens from actual and potential threats.
