ENDSARS: Nigeria Has Dealers, Not Leaders in Govt – The Rt Rev Funso Awe
By Emmanuel Udom
The Rt Rev Funso Awe, The Diocean of Diocese of Lagos on the Mainland ( Orthodox Anglican Communion), Catheral Church of Saint Peter and Paul, Oregun, Lagos, today described politicians holding various positions as dealers, not leaders.
Speaking during the One Year Anniversarry of ENDSARS held at his church, the Reverend said youths in Nigeria backed up by activitists, triggered off ENSARS last year to hold government acccountable to the people, where a number of innocenet persons were killed by soldiers.
Rev Awe, while speaking on the Theme: One Year After ENDSARS called on Nigerian youths to unite in unison and hold govrnment accountable at the local, state and federal levels;
He insisted that our prsesent politicians were either selected, rigged into offices or appointed not to serve the masses, but to amass waelth for themselves, while the country is going up in flames.
According to him, “the PDP government ruled our country for 16 years and performed abracabra in the name of Change, but today,the realities on ground show that the so-called APC change is bitting real hard on the masses, while politicians are eating fat”.
The radical cleric further urged the youths to unite and re-organise themselves in order to evelove plans that would put governemnt and its officials at various levels in perpertual checks.
His words: “No politician at any level in Nigeria could loot our common treasury, if deep dowm, thet know that the people could hold them accountable”
In his submission, Comrade Gbenga Komolafe, Co-Convener, Revolution Now, expressed his appreciation to God and the leadership of the Anglican Church for the anniversary service and regreted that suspected soldeirs killed innocent, but genuine protesters, during the ENDSARS protest at Lekki.
He however assured that though the government and its security agencies are spending fortunes to kill and bury the issue, justice will prevail.
