Today, Margret Okonkwo, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, is the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Shogunle Police, Station, in Lagos.
She was deployed from Owutu, Agric area of Ikorodu in Lagos to her new beat and ever since then, a visit to the station showed improved innovations, with friendly, disciplined police officers, doing their jobs professionally.
CSP Okonkwo is one of the many female DPOs emerging to tackle crime from all fronts in Lagos.
Owutu, we all know in Agric, Ikorodu used to be a bad zone where cult boys and other deadly crimes are committed. She fought to make sure crime was reduced to minimum level, while there.
www.csomedia.com.ng gathered that since the establishment of Owutu police station, she is the first female DPO despite the area being crime prone that performed gallantly and earned an award by a media outfit for her monumental and outstanding contribution towards combating crime in owutu in general.
She was also awarded by Emerald International Magazine for crime eradication and effective policing on the 24th of February, 2020.
On the 8th of May 2020 an award of distinction was presented to CSP Margaret Okonkwo as the best DPO in recognition of her supreme effort at combating and maintaining law and order within her jurisdiction.
Who Is W/CSP MARGARET OKONKWO?
Chief Superintendent Margaret Okonkwo obtained the National Certificate of Education from Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Bachelors of Science degree in Economics/ Education from University of Nigeria Nsukka, Masters in public and International Affairs from University of Lagos. During her academics pursuit she was the vice president of her department, ECONOMICS
She was appointed into the Nigeria police force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police course 21 police academy wudil Kano in 2002, also a unit parade commander of her squad (5).
She was the general number one for both women Cadet ASP and Inspectors respectively; she went through several trainings, physical and citizenship training at Sherri hills pleatu state, also combat and operational training at qwoza, Maiduguri 2003 respectively. On completion of her course in 2004 she was posted to Kaduna state.
She was drafted to the United Nation Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo July 2008– 2009. CSP Margaret Okonkwo attended a course on security and criminal Intelligence, also on Intelligence report writing 5*5*5* evaluation handling system in Kosovo, Europe.
She also attends pre–redeployment training course in Ghana 2012. On her return from the united Nation Peace Keeping Mission she was posted to Lagos state police command where she served as the Divisional Crime Officer Ikeja police station Area F police command.
She served as an officer in charge Juvenile Welfare Center (J.W.C.) Area F Ikeja 2012 she served as a Divisional traffic officer Man center police station, also as a Divisional traffic officer Oko-Oba police station under area gulf command in 2013 after three months in Oko-Oba police station she was posted as the Area Traffic Officer area Gulf command supervising Nine (9) Divisions of the area command.
She performed her duty professionally without supervision as the area traffic officer; she was fondly called IYA ONIGBA on the field of traffic control. The mass transfer of 2015 moved her to Ebonyi state where she was posted as the Area crime officer Abakaliki Metro.
In 2016 she was transferred to Railway police command and was posted as the Divisional police officer Agege station in Lagos state where she performed more than expected of a woman officer, her strength really make up the adage that says what a man can do a woman can do better, she is a talented and a smart officer with a difference.
CSP Margaret Okonkwo is a recipient of gold medal Award from the United Nations for hard work and dedication to duty. She was awarded by the Nigeria union of journalist Lagos chapter for recognition of her selfless service to humanity in the area of traffic management and control.
She was awarded by junior chambers International Lagos Metropolitan Nigeria for her exceptional talent, strength and outstanding performance.
On the 30th of November 2017 she received the crime reporter’s association award for excellence in traffic management, she is also a proud holder of the pragmatic leadership award by society for public against drugs and crime (SPODAC) 2017, she was awarded by peace magazine for excellence in crime fighting 2017,
CSP Margaret Okonkwo bags a monumental achievements award by crime link publication 2017 in recognition of her commitment to national development through crime prevention, management control conflict resolution and respect for human right, a meritorious service Gold award by leadership values and principles Enhancement Initiative for crime prevention, management and control 2017, Charismatic leadership Award in commitment to public service through traffic prevention, control management, peace building and administrative excellence by Nigeria voice of peace reconciliation was also awarded to her in 2017, also a distinguish police merit Award as the most distinguish police officer in diligence meritorious services to humanity by fresh fact magazine 2018.
A distinguished service excellence award to commitment to citizen welfare through crime prevention was awarded to her, Effective policing and community Relations by citizen welfare foundation 2018, leadership hope media achievers awards for excellence service to humanity, special Recognition award by CWAY food and beverages on traffic control day 2018. The Nigeria Focus news magazine award was also awarded to CSP Margaret Okonkwo in cognition of her commitment to National service.
A lot of numerous awards were honored on her and several other awards in her distinguished service to her father land, Nigeria and her immediate constituency the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
She is a member of the International Association of police Chief (IACP). CSP Margaret Okonkwo in 2017 was posted as the Lagos state traffic officer fondly called MOTOPOL. She performed more than expected during her tenure.
In may 2019 she was posted as Divisional police officer (DPO) At Owutu Agric, Ikorodu, this smart and intelligent officer despite all odds she fought crime more than a man.

On 19th may 2020 a distinguished leadership gold award for recognition and to community service, crime prevention and respect for human rights was presented to DPO CSP Margaret Okonkwo by society for public orientation against drugs and crime.
On the 8th of September 2020, Nigeria Focus News Magazine presented an Integrity Leadership Award to CSP Margaret Okonkwo in recognition of her commitment to national service through crime prevention and management control
CSP Margaret Okonkwo being a diligent officer she was awarded a distinguished Gold award on the 9th of Sep 2020 by leadership enhancement initiatives for recognition and dedication to public services through crime prevention, diligence, honesty, patriotism service to humanity, peace building and administrative excellence. She has bags several awards from the community in connection with community policing
In her home community this dynamic lady as being recognized as an achiever and exemplary ambassador of her people was as such awarded the traditional chieftaincy ADA DIORAMA of Igbo land also a chieftain title of Ugebe Ezinulo of Abatete in Anambra state, also ogbu Abatete improvement union merit Award, including Abatete development organization honorary award. She is married and bless with children.
