COVID-19 Lockdown Bites In A’Ibom

Following the directive of Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel for a total lockdown of the state with effect from April 3, the state commissioner of police, Imohimi Edgal said security operatives will commence full enforcement of the order starting from 5pm of April 3.
Imohimi who is the chairman of the task force set up by the state government to enforce the lockdown started this at the state police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.
The police boss explains that the time was to allow citizens to buy their personal needs to prepare for the total lockdown.
The police commissioner appealed to the people to adhere strictly on the lockdown by remaining indoors for the next 14 days to curb the spread of the Corona virus.
Under the directive, all markets, shops and other businesses in the state except pharmaceutical shops are to remain closed while all public gatherings have been banned
