The aim of this stakeholder’s dialogue is to engage stakeholders in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria, to consider attainable ways in intercepting the concurrent security challenges happening in the North-East.
The looming crisis in the northeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria has worsened and culminated in displacement of citizens in rural settlements, destruction of farm lands, increased death tolls of citizens, including women and children. National and sub-national governments had often used hard and soft approaches through the use of security and law enforcement agencies in tackling patterns of insecurity in the region. In spite of the efforts, citizens including visitors, travellers and dwellers who depend of farming to support their livelihood still feel unsafe in the communities due to fear of being abducted, raped and killed by bandits or other non-state armed groups.
The current situation in the northeast presents opportunity to interrogate the underlying factors of security challenges and facilitate learning and capacities to transform the security challenges in collaboration with other key stakeholders for the promotion of a peaceful and secure region desired by all citizens.
It is on this basis that CLEEN Foundation is organizing this webinar.
