‘Blind’ Female Beggar Injures Agbero In Iyana Ipaja
By Emmanuel Udom
A fair-complexion blind lady, guarded by two girls today at Iyana-Ipaja in Lagos, hit an agbero with her stick on his forehead.
Our correspondent gathered that the agbero was hustling, running about to collect money from commercial bus drivers around the Iyana bridge, when he allegedly hit the beggar and she fell.
Eyewitness said guided by her girls, the beggar staggered up, and headed straight to where the agbero was standing and hit him with the stick she was caring.
There were contradictory views and whether or not she is actually blind, as some agberoes and other people at the bus-stop said she was not actually blind.
Others insisted that she has moved around Iyana Ipaja, Egbeda, Akowonjo, and Ile-Epo for years begging for alms and being guided by her two girls.
However, our correspondent observed that police officers from Gowon Estate Police Station arrived on time to tame the situation and carried the woman, who was crying and wailing, her two girls and the injured agbero to their station.
