The Good Guys; The 88- Page glossy Magazine is published by the Governor of Lagos State. Babajide Sonwo-olu and packaged and produced by the Rapid Response Squad, a crime buster unit under Lagos state police command.
The Editor-in-Chief, DCP Olatunji Disu of the Magazine, which highlighted achievements of police in crime prevention and detection, stated in his opening shot “Peoples’ sincere appreciation of the policemen’s lofty work and goodness notwithstanding, is always the butt of his friends’ criticism but he reacts to his detractors with saintly equanimity”. DCP Disu further explained that a policeman is trained to achieve peace every time and anywhere.
The police boss explained that a police man is neither a supper human nor a supernatural creature, explaining that the police odious task exposes him to brain fatigue and sickness which he has to combat with while affecting his official duty of saving lives and property.
However, the Magazine reveals some educative and evocative quotes of Governor Babajide Sonwo-Olu thus’ “As an administration, we will live up to our responsibility of ensuring the security of lives and property of all citizens. We will not abandon this responsibility at any time”
Also the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu NPM, mni, quoted thus “police is committed to collaborating with government agencies to help tackle the current insecurity challenges plaguing the nation”. Also the Assistant Inspector General of police Zone 2, ILiyasu Ahmed harped, on the deadly virus; Covid 19. He stated that the lockdown is not punishment but to slow down the incubation, spread and manifestation of the deadly Virus. He said that it is in the best interest of everyone”
Nevertheless, the commissioner of police Lagos state Hakeem Odumosu (FCIA) revealed. “We have been using the persuasive enforcement, not combative method. We started assisting government through advocacy: many people don’t believe that Covid 19 is real; some call it “Big man’s disease”
CP Odumosu went further “Some will say when they don’t have money to board plane, how will they get it”. He therefore remarked that the people forget the big man has a driver that lives in Ajegunle and spreads it, advising people to follow all directives given by the health officials and state government
