Attack on Christmas Eve: How Terrorist (Boko Haram) invade Adamawa
Boko Haram, a terror group, launched an attack on Grakida town of Gombi Local Government Areas in Adamawa state on Christmas Eve, killing five people and abducting three others. Houses, stores, vehicles and bulldozers belonging to the town’s Tractor Construction business were also set ablaze by the terror group. An eyewitness, who said he escaped by whisker into the bush, told how insurgents from Boko Haram arrived in Grakida town in large numbers on Christmas eve at around 5 pm when residents were preparing for Christmas. He added that in five Hilux vehicles, motorcycles and trucks, the insurgents stormed the town while some trekked, fired randomly, and burned stores, cars and buildings. He said that bulldozers belonging to a tractor construction company operating in Grakida were also burned.
The eyewitness said that the corpses of the five people killed were deposited at the Grakida mortuary. “He added that some residents fled the town with bullet wounds, noting “there is a chance for the number of deaths.
Another eyewitness who identified himself as Mr. Trafa Luti said that when the insurgents were approaching the area, most people fled to the mountains and bush, adding that was why there were not many casualties. He added that he knew that three people had been abducted by insurgents.
“The reason they were kidnapped, we don’t know,” he said. In February this year, Grakida came under attack.
“A military source confirmed the latest attack, but said, “l can’t make any remarks now, but l will make it available to you in due course when the headquarters approves our press release.
However, reports from the affected area revealed that, following information that Boko Haram could attack the town, hunters and vigilantes were mobilized to defend Garkida town.
Reports suggested that when the insurgents did not appear at the time that the intelligence report said the insurgents were coming to attack Grakida, the team was dispatched to Mubi North, Yola and Gombi, but Boko Haram struck and attacked Garkida shortly after the hunters left.
Normalcy is starting to return to the region affected.
