The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has began a rebranding process to reposition the party as the only credible alternative for Nigerians in future elections.
Mr Yabagi Sani, ADP National Chairman said this in Abuja at the party’s 3rd Non-Elective National Convention.
Sani said that the party was determined and getting ready not just to contend in 2027 election, but to take up the leadership of the country and ensure the desired good governance.
“As we inch towards 2027, ADP is not going to struggle for power for the sake of it but to bring about the positive elements of politics.
“From security of lives and properties which is the primary essence of governance to booming economy, to education, science and technology, food security and eventually to industrialisation.
“ADP shall scientifically, strategically and meticulously through guided planning turn around the fortunes of Nigerians after 2027,” he said.
Sani said that the party would contend in 2027 against import dependent economy, subsistent agriculture, unproductive citizens breeding illiteracy rather than literacy.
He expressed optimism that ahead of future elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would have introduced electronic voting and installed CCTV cameras in polling units to enhance the electoral system.
This, he said would guarantee transparent, free, fair and credible polls which would translate to victory for the party.
Sani advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconsider and reverse those policies that were not working and retool, re-plan and reintroduce them for the benefits of the entire country.
He also appealed to Nigerians to support the government as all hands were needed on deck whether weak or strong to revive the nation from further derailment.
Dr Alex Maiyanga, ADP National Organising Secretary, said that the party had been calibrated to be an alternative credible party by the founding fathers and it was ready to live up to its vision.
Maiyanga said that rebranding the party, the logo and its entailments were philosophical and well-thought out as the image of the book from the ancient times has continued to be the light that can seamlessly dismiss darkness.
“Our colours are tantalizing and resplendent. APD is the only party that has well cut-out ideology as we pursue social capitalism we promote creativity, entrepreneurship, industrialization, production while not neglecting the vulnerable.
“We are structured with the ideology for liberty, equality, and justice and we do not only appreciate accumulation of economic forms of capital; but we value all forms of capital including social capital, human capital, and cultural capital.
“ADP is poised to cause Nigeria to function effectively using the instrumentality of values led living in a diverse society, promotion of sense of belonging, safe environment, active participation of citizens, reciprocity between state and citizens,” he said.
He said through the party’s firm belief in the enforcement of the rule of law and not the rule of men, it shall liberate the country from its present state of inertia and despondency.
Mr Pam Dachungyang, Senator representative Plateau North, urged the party not to let Nigerians down in future polls as it was now amongst the community of big party’s having won a seat at the National Assembly.
